ABOUT FELTFORMA
I did not plan to
build a business.
I was looking for calm. For balance. For myself.
After more than fifteen years working as a marketing and sales manager, I was tired. My mind was full of pressure. I had lost connection with myself.
During that time, I decided to return to my roots. I remembered my grandmother. The wool. The warm water. Her hands moving slowly and with certainty.
I started felting again — and I felt calm for the first time in years. It helped me heal. And later it became my business.
WHERE IT BEGINS
I Come From Makers
My father's mother felted wool boots by hand in a small Lithuanian village — big, thick, warm boots for winter. She used local sheep wool, white and creamy yellow. I watched her as a child. I didn't know then that I was watching my own future. My father's father was a mechanic — he worked with his hands his whole life.
My mother's mother was a professional garden designer. She loved creating flower gardens — and also modeled and sewed her own clothes. My mother's father was a policeman in independent Lithuania, known for his warmth and his way with people.
My father plays the bandoneon and holds a doctorate in physical science. My mother works in a library and sings and dances in a folk ensemble. Sometimes my father and I play together — him on bandoneon, me on violin.
I was born in the center of Vilnius. My studio today is near the same streets where I grew up with my mom, dad, and sister. Near the same neighborhood where I learned what it means to create.
I grew up surrounded by people who made things. With their hands, their voices, their minds, their gardens.
I think that's why I never chose the easy path.
Felt — as in the material.
But also as in feeling.
A feeling that becomes form.
WHAT FELTFORMA MEANS
ONE STUDIO. MY HANDS
Feeling That Transforms
Into Form
Feltforma is not a factory. It is not a team behind a brand name.
It is me — Dovile — in my studio in Vilnius, working slowly, by hand, with honest materials. I learned the ancient wet wool felting technique from my grandmother. No formal courses. Just wool, water, hands, and years of figuring it out.
When I am working with wool — touching it, shaping it — it feels like touching something alive. Soft. With a natural smell that no synthetic material has ever had. I use a roller, felting stones, hot and cold water. And after some time, what was just loose fiber becomes something that holds its shape for years.
Something strange happens during felting. I use 140 grams of loose wool fiber to make one sauna hat. After the hot and cold water baths, after the rolling and shaping — it sometimes weighs more than 140 grams when it's finished.
I still don't fully understand why. But I think that's the wool telling me something.
Hand-sculpting is like meditation for me. When an order comes in, I always check the town it came from. I think about the person. I think about how they will wear it.
"Did you know? Usually people share selfies — but my customers send me photos of their bare feet. It always makes me smile."
THE RITUAL
My Morning
I start each morning with a cup of warm water and quiet time. Then coffee, baked eggs with sweet paprikas — sometimes 5 or 6 dried dates on the side. Every morning the same ritual.
Then I go to my studio.
My studio is in Vilnius, Lithuania — which means while most of my customers in the US are still sleeping, I am already at my workbench with wool in my hands.
THE WOOL
Honest From the Mountain.
Honest to Your Skin.
Every piece starts with the same material — mulesing-free Tyrolean mountain wool from small European farms. Water-washed only. No chemical treatments. No synthetic processes.
Sometimes you will find a blade of dry grass in the fiber. That is not a flaw. It is proof the wool has never been chemically treated. It comes from the mountain honest. It arrives to me honest. It leaves honest.
30 naturally dyed shades — colored with acid-free natural dyes only. 7 undyed tones — water-washed only, color entirely from the sheep.
No glue. No plastic. No synthetic shortcuts.
I choose materials that support small farms and traditional wool makers. Ethical craft carries a special warmth that people feel when they wear it.

THE COMPANY
A Little Bit of the US in Feltforma
Ten years ago I visited my best friend in New Jersey. I decided to open an LLC while I was there.
So Feltforma is an American company — Custom Focus Studio LLC - with a Lithuanian soul and Lithuanian hands. Everything is made in my studio in Vilnius. Everything ships to the US duty-free.
From 2017 to 2022, I worked with AhaLife USA, which selected my products as a recognition of creativity and originality. My slippers were also available on HardtoFind, a well-known Australian marketplace for unique gifts. These partnerships helped me share my work with people who value sustainability and slow living.
THE PHILOSOPHY
Building a Business From Stillness
Gratitude is the heart of my work.
I do not rush. I do not try to grow fast. I focus on quality and people. Every order reminds me that someone in the world has chosen comfort made by hand. When customers write that their feet feel warm and calm, I feel thankful.
Working slowly taught me a new way to lead. I start each morning with warm water and quiet time - and I remind myself that honest work has value.
For me, wealth means freedom to create. Not speed. Not big numbers.
I make wide-fit slippers because I want everyone to feel comfortable. People whose feet have never fit standard sizing deserve that too.
"I do not choose simple things. I choose difficult things — where I can use creativity, practical knowledge, and a deep love for natural materials."
This is what 15 years of hand-felting looks like.
