FAQ - Hand Sculpted Alpine Wool Slippers & Boots
Questions about wool, fit, soles, care, and ordering. Each answer is complete. If yours is not here, write to Dovile directly.
Are FELTFORMA slippers true to size?
Each pair is hand sculpted to order. Women's US 5–11.5. Men's US 6.5–12. Larger sizes on request. Measure your bare foot length and compare it to the sizing chart in the product images. Felt does not stretch the way fabric does — the correct size matters from the start.
Can FELTFORMA slippers be made for wide feet?
Yes. Every pair is sculpted by hand, so width can be adjusted at the time of making. Add your bare foot width measurement in a note after ordering. Dovilė will shape the pair to that width. An additional charge applies.
Can the slippers accommodate arch support inserts?
Yes. Additional interior depth can be built in on request. Note your insert thickness after ordering and Dovilė will account for it during sculpting.
Are these slippers suitable for people with plantar fasciitis?
FELTFORMA slippers are not medical footwear. However, the seamless felt construction has no pressure points, and interior space for personal inserts can be accommodated. Many people with foot sensitivity wear them comfortably.
Are these slippers suitable for barefoot-style walking?
Yes. The felt is seamless and follows the foot with every movement. Felt soles give a quiet, close-to-ground feel indoors. Natural latex adds grip for smoother floors. Amazonian caoutchouc crepe rubber soles — applied without glue — give flexible traction for light outdoor steps.
Will wool slippers keep cold floors from coming through?
Yes. Alpine wool insulates the foot from tile, stone, and wood while remaining breathable. It does not trap heat — it regulates it.
Will wool slippers make my feet sweat?
No. The wool is water-washed only, never carbonised. It wicks moisture away from the skin and keeps the foot dry in both warm and cool conditions.
Fit & Sizing
Material & Craft
What wool do you use?
Alpine virgin wool, sourced from small mountain farms in Europe. The wool is living-shorn — taken from sheep that continue grazing after shearing. It is washed in water only, never carbonised or bleached, and left in its natural state.
Why is there a piece of grass in my wool?
It is left there intentionally. Dry mountain grass pressed into the felt during shearing is proof that the wool was washed only in water — no chemicals, no solvents, nothing to dissolve what nature left behind. The grass stayed. The toxins never arrived.
Is the wool dyed?
The seven natural shades in the FELTFORMA palette are entirely undyed — the colour is the sheep's own fleece. For other colour options in the wider collection, wool is hand-dyed with low-impact dyes that preserve the fibre's softness and breathability.
What does hand sculpted mean?
Each slipper is wet felted and shaped entirely by hand — no cutting, no seams, no internal structure. The wool is compressed directly into form. There is nothing to come apart. The shape yields slowly to the wearer's foot and holds it permanently.
Are there any synthetic materials?
No. No synthetic fibres, no foam, no glue, no plastic. The only materials are Alpine wool and your chosen sole. No. Alpine wool, natural soles, and waxed linen thread. Nothing else.
Sole Options
What sole options are available?
Three options. Felt soles — pure wool underfoot, for quiet indoor wear on any surface. Natural latex soles — lightweight, anti-slip grip for smooth floors. Amazonian caoutchouc crepe rubber soles — the highest grade of natural rubber, harvested from wild Amazonian trees, plastic-free, hand-stitched without glue, suitable for light outdoor use on terraces or garden paths. All three are entirely natural and plastic-free.
Do you use leather soles?
No. Every sole is plant-based or natural felt. The animals are still on the mountain.
Which sole is best for everyday indoor wear?
Felt soles for pure barefoot softness on wood or stone. Natural latex if your floors are smooth and you move between rooms quickly. Both are entirely plastic-free.
Care
How do I care for FELTFORMA slippers? Care depends on the sole.
Felt soles — hand rinse in cool water. No soap needed, the wool's natural lanolin cleans itself. Reshape gently while damp and air dry flat, away from direct heat. The wool will return to its form.
Latex or caoutchouc crepe rubber soles — do not wash. Air the slippers in a well-ventilated room, away from direct sunlight. The wool breathes naturally and refreshes with air.
Will the slippers shrink?
If washed in hot water or machine dried, yes. Felt-soled slippers should always be washed in cool water with gentle handling. Latex and caoutchouc-soled slippers should not be washed at all.
Custom Orders & Gifting
Can I order a completely custom pair?
Yes. Shade, sole, sizing, and width can all be specified. Write to Dovilė before or after ordering with your requirements. Custom pairs take additional time and carry an additional charge depending on the specification.
Are FELTFORMA slippers a considered gift?
Yes. Each pair arrives ready to give. If you are ordering for someone else, contact Dovile with their shade preference, sole choice, and foot measurements. She will sculpt the pair around that person specifically. There is no more personal gift than something made to the exact shape of someone's foot.
Delivery
Where do you ship?
Worldwide, from Vilnius, Lithuania.
Do US customers pay customs or import fees?
No. All orders to the United States ship Delivered Duty Paid. Nothing is owed on arrival — no customs forms, no import fees, no surprises.
How long does production take?
Each pair is made to order. Current lead time is 14 business days. Custom fit orders — adjusted width, arch depth, or bespoke sizing — take additional time. For time-sensitive orders, contact Dovile before purchasing.

FELTFORMA's men's wide fit wool mules in Autumn Fleece are hand sculpted from living-shorn Alpine virgin wool — undyed, water-washed, toxin-free, and naturally thermoregulating through every season, for those whose foot has never been served by standard sizing and will not compromise on what touches their skin at home.
Autumn Fleece is the shade the fleece grows to when the animal has spent a full season on the mountain — warm brown-grey, neither beige nor brown, settled in the way that only an undyed natural material can be. No dye was added. No colour decision was made after the sheep. The shade arrived on its own, unhurried, in open air. The animal is still grazing.
The wool is water-washed only. The lanolin remains inside the fibre intact — warm, breathing, alive to temperature. There is a particular kind of fatigue that synthetic materials create without announcing themselves. Alpine wool that has never been chemically altered does the opposite. The nervous system reads it as neutral. The foot stops being managed. It simply rests.
Look closely and you may find a small piece of dry mountain grass pressed into the felt. It is left as found. The grass stayed. The toxins never arrived. For a man who reads labels and researches what enters his home, that blade of grass is the only certificate that matters.
The open back of the mule allows the foot to breathe and the step to remain natural. In winter the Alpine wool holds warmth without trapping heat. In summer it wicks moisture without synthetic intervention. The foot inside them stops noticing them — which is the only thing a house shoe should do.
Each mule is wet felted and hand sculpted by Dovilė in her Vilnius studio after your order is placed. No pair exists before you choose it. No seams. No glue. The form yields slowly to the foot until it holds the exact shape of you — and nothing else.

Professional-grade wool insulation for cold plunge and contrast therapy.
Designed to moderate thermal shock during cold immersion, this dense wool hat slows scalp temperature drop while remaining breathable and stable.
Plastic-free. Glue-free. Seamless insulation.
Unlike lightweight felt hats, this edition is formed from dense Tyrolean mountain wool that maintains structure and insulation even when damp.
This is not decoration.
It is thermal moderation equipment.
Why Head Protection Matters in Cold Immersion
During ice baths and cold plunge sessions:
Shock response begins at the scalp
Rapid temperature drop increases discomfort
Nervous system overload reduces session tolerance
Controlled insulation helps regulate this response.
Dense mountain wool creates a stable thermal barrier that reduces intensity without blocking breathability.
Performance Benefits
Reduces cold shock intensity
Supports nervous system regulation
Improves contrast therapy endurance
Maintains insulation even when damp
Dries naturally after immersion
Retains structure after repeated exposure
Built for immersion.
Designed for control.

FELTFORMA's men's wool slippers with Amazonian rubber sole are formed from living-shorn Alpine virgin wool — undyed, water-washed, toxin-free, and naturally thermoregulating through every season, for those who have stopped tolerating anything synthetic against their skin.
Autumn Fleece is the warm dark beige of wool in late October — the shade the fleece grows to when the animal has spent a full season on the mountain. Not beige in the commercial sense. Not a colour decision. The colour the fibre arrived at on its own, unhurried, in open air. No dye was added. What you see is the animal's own.
The foot of a man who moves through the world with intention carries more than weight. It carries the accumulated decisions of every hour — what to wear, what to eat, what to put against the body. Alpine wool that has never been chemically processed removes one decision entirely. The lanolin inside the fibre — intact, water-washed, never stripped — creates a surface the nervous system reads as safe. The body releases. Quietly, without drama, without being asked.
Look closely and you may find a small piece of dry mountain grass pressed into the felt. It is left as found. The grass stayed. The toxins never arrived. For a man who researches what enters his home, that blade of grass is the only certificate that matters.
The sole is Amazonian caoutchouc — natural rubber harvested from wild trees. No plastic. No glue. Hand-stitched to the felt upper. It grips smooth floors, stone, tile, and hardwood without sliding. There is nothing in this sole that the body needs to process or reject.
