In a traditional sauna at 194°F, the biggest heat exposure is from the hot air surrounding you. In an infrared cabin at 130°F, the air is cooler — but the radiant panels are pointed directly at your body, including often at your head.
Does a Sauna Hat Work in an Infrared Sauna?
Most infrared cabin users sit or recline facing panels that radiate forward. The head is typically less shielded than the torso. Radiant heat absorbed by the skull heats your head directly — and the brain's temperature-sensitivity means you'll still hit the exit signal before your core reaches the therapeutic range.
