Mountain Dusk on the exterior — the deepest colour in the undyed palette, almost black, the shade the fleece grows to at high altitude where the cold is most constant and the wool is densest. First Light inside — the pale grey of early morning before the sun reaches the mountain. Where the two meet at the opening of the slipper, they find each other without effort. That line is not designed. It is simply where one animal's wool ends and another's begins.
No dye was added to either shade. No pigment decision was made after the sheep. Mountain Dusk is the animal that lives highest. First Light is the animal that lives lower, where the light is softer. What you feel against your foot is what each animal grew — and both animals are still grazing.
The wool is water-washed only. The lanolin remains inside the fibre intact, creating a surface the nervous system reads as neutral. Look closely and you may find a small piece of dry mountain grass pressed into the felt. It is left as found. The grass stayed. The toxins never arrived.
