At 26 to 27 centimetres, the boot rises to mid-calf. It wraps the ankle, the Achilles, the lower leg — the places where cold enters first and warmth is lost before the body registers it. Alpine wool that retains its lanolin creates a thermal layer that does not trap heat but holds it — the difference between a boot that makes the foot sweat and one that keeps it at exactly the temperature it needs to be.
The wool is water-washed only. Look closely and you may find a small piece of dry mountain grass pressed into the felt. It is left as found. The grass stayed. The toxins never arrived. Just wool, water, and the hands that shaped it. Nothing else was needed.
