Handmade Undyed Wool Sauna Hat
This hat is made once — for you, after you order. Hand-felted in our Vilnius studio from undyed mountain wool, it takes 14 days to form properly. That's not a delay. That's the process.
No glue. No synthetic lining. No chemical dyes. Just wool, water, and hands — the way felt has always been made, built for sauna and cold plunge.
Why This Hat
Sauna heat protection Wool is one of the few natural materials that insulates without trapping heat. The dense felt layer sits between your scalp and 180–200°F air, letting you stay in longer without discomfort. Your hair stays protected. Your focus stays clear.
Cold plunge recovery After contrast therapy — moving from sauna heat to cold water — your head loses warmth fast. This hatholds that warmth during recovery, so your body can regulate without fighting on two fronts.
No synthetic contact with your skin Most sauna hats are lined with synthetic fabric or sealed with glue that off-gasses in heat. This hat is entirely wool — no hidden layers, no adhesives. What touches your head is the same material all the way through.
Hair protection Repeated dry heat exposure strips moisture from hair and fades color. Dense undyed wool acts as a breathable thermal barrier — it absorbs humidity from the sauna air and keeps direct heat off your hair and scalp.
The 14-Day Story
Made for you. Not made ahead.
We don't keep a warehouse of pre-made hats. Every hat is sculpted from raw Tyrolean wool fiber after your order arrives. The 14 days aren't a production bottleneck — it's the process itself.
Industrial felting uses chemicals and pressure to compress fiber in hours. We use water, friction, and time. The result is a hat with structural memory — it holds its shape, molds gently to your head, and doesn't degrade the way fast-felted wool does.
My grandmother felted wool boots this way in a Lithuanian village. There was no shortcut then. There isn't one now.

FAQ
Why does it take 14 days to make? Every hat is made individually, from scratch, after your order arrives. We hand-felt raw Tyrolean wool fiber using water and friction — no industrial shortcuts. The 14 days is the time the wool needs to be sculpted, cured, and set. It's not a queue. It's the craft.
What does "undyed" mean — what color will it be? Undyed means the wool has never been treated with synthetic colorants. The natural color comes entirely from the sheep. Tyrolean mountain wool comes in a range of natural shades — cream, light grey, dark grey, light brown, dark brown, chocolate and black. You select your color at checkout. Each batch varies slightly; no two hats are identical.
Will it shrink or felt further if it gets wet? This hat is designed to get wet — it's made for sauna and cold plunge use. Rinse with cool water and air dry flat. Avoid hot water and machine washing, which can cause further felting and shrinkage.
How does it fit? Will it fit my head? The standard fit covers 56–62 cm / 22–24.4 in — the majority of adult head sizes. The hat has some natural stretch and will gently mold to the shape of your head with wear. If you need a custom size, contact us before ordering.
Is there really no glue or plastic anywhere? None. No glue, no synthetic lining, no plastic hardware. The hat is entirely wool, felted together with water and friction. The hanging loop (optional) is also wool.
Are there any customs fees for US or Canadian orders? No. We ship USA and Canada DDP — Delivered Duty Paid. All duties and import taxes are included in what you pay at checkout. There are no additional fees when your hat arrives.
